Brooklyn's Shelton "Spike" Lee is the outspoken documentarian, commercial director and filmmaker whose first narrative feature, She's Gotta Have It, introduced 25 years of art at the cutting edge of American sociopolitical conversation. The American Film Institute calls Lee's Do the Right Thing (1989) one of the best 100 movies ever made, and it was the featured entertainment on the first date of Mr. and Mrs. Obama.
