Sweet!

Olympia Sweet Adeline’s Women’s Chorus is set to stage its fall show, “Stranded In Paradise,“ this weekend. The musical story begins with a women’s chorus arriving in Hawaii for a vacation and performances. They soon learn that their tour company has folded and that they are responsible for finding their own way home.

[Kenneth J. Minnaert Center For The Arts Theatre, Saturday, Oct. 6, 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7, 2 p.m., $10-$15, South Puget Sound Community College, 2011 Mottman Rd. S.W., Olympia, 360.506.5508]

Jarrod!

The hottest tickets in town these days seem to be those for Capital Playhouse’s “Sweeney Todd,” which promises to be a record breaker for the theater.

Artistic Director Jeff Kingsbury attributes this pre-show success to the fact that Jarrod Emick, a Tony Award and Drama Desk winner for the 1994 revival of “Damn Yankees,” is playing the title role. Emick has appeared on Broadway in “Les Miserables,” “Miss Saigon,” “Damn Yankees,” “The Rocky Horror Show” and “The Boy From Oz.” In London’s West End, he appeared as Jerry in “The Full Monty.” For television, he has starred in “Andersonville“ and appeared in “L.A. Firefighters” and “Pacific Palisades.”

The production also features a full orchestra offstage rather than actors playing instruments and more traditional costuming, props and scenic elements than were utilized in the revival.

[Capital Playhouse, through Oct. 27, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, $21-$33, 612 E. Fourth Ave., Olympia, 360. 943.2744]

Vep!

Centerstage is going old school with its production of the quasi-vaudeville comedy “The Mystery of Irma Vep.”

[Knutzen Family Theatre, through Oct. 14, 3200 S.W. Dash Point Rd., Federal Way, 253.661.1444]
