Looking for something slightly out of the ordinary to jazz up your next holiday get-together? Well, you live in the right place. The South Sound is positively brimming with unique brews to get that party started. So gather your besties and get ready to celebrate the season with these fine brews.

Odd Otter Brewing Company

Located in the bright blue building along downtown Pacific Avenue, this oddly-named brewing company is ringing in the holidays with the release of its herby Winterface Holiday Ale - a juniper, cucumber, lavender, lemon zest and orange "unique flavor experience." Thirty-two ounce growlers and 64-ounce growlers assure plenty of flavor for your holiday guests to experience. Open 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday-Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, 716 Pacific Ave., Tacoma, 253.327.1680

Pacific Brewing & Malting Company

The recently reopened historic Pacific Brewing & Malting Company, also located on downtown Pacific Avenue, will once again offer Griswold's Winter Warmer. Just like the iconic movie that features its namesake, this perennial caramel-y, nutty favorite never fails to delight. Originally opened in 1867 and closed in 1916 - a victim of prohibition - this family-friendly brewery and taproom offers a variety of fine craft beers all year long. Open 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, closed Monday, 610 Pacific Ave., Tacoma, 253.383.2337

Harmon Brewing Company

Harmon's Steep and Deep Winter Ale - with its cocoa, malt, citrus and mint notes - has become something of a holiday tradition at the Harmon Brewing Company. In addition to this seasonal favorite, the Harmon Taproom offers 20 different beers on tap, showcasing both its own brews and craft beers from other local breweries, throughout the year. It's also a great place to sample some tasty, locally-sourced nibbles. Open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday; 204 St. Helens Ave., Tacoma, 253.212.2725

Powerhouse Brewery

Powerhouse Brewery's Winter Warmer is a "high-octane winter ale" that's perfect for those long, cold winter nights. Located in the historic Puyallup power station, the Powerhouse Brewery prides itself on its "really, really good food" and handcrafted brews. Open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, 454 E. Main Ave., Puyallup, 253.845.1370

Puyallup River Brewing Company

This production-only brewery, located in the city of Puyallup, has released two special beers for the holiday season. The Imperial Christmas Cream Ale is its gold medal-winning cream ale all dressed up for the holidays with a spicy flavor and 8.5 percent ABV. The Imperial version of Puyallup River Brewing Company's Mud Mountain Milk Stout, known as the Imperial Eggnog Mud Mountain Milk Stout, combines eggnog spices, cocoa and vanilla flavors - along with 8.5 percent ABV - to make it a festive option for holiday gatherings. The Puyallup River Brewing Company beers are available in bottles and on tap at more than 500 locations throughout the southern half of Washington. Check out the website to find some near you.
