Biography

2112 hails from Lakewood Washington and specializes in the faithful recreation of the music of the legendary Canadian progressive rock band Rush. 2112 does this not only by accurate performance of the music, but also by a careful recreation of the Rush tone palate: ranging from accurate use of synthesizers, guitar tones, drum tones, bass tones and vocal patterns.

2112 has come to be known as the premiere Rush tribute band in the Pacific Northwest and has performed at many of the local festival such as The Taste of Tacoma, The Bite of Seattle. The Point Defiance Music Festival, as well as the Issaquah Salmon Days. Additionally 2112 has played many premiere area stages such at the Red Wind Casino, The 7 Cedars Casino, Jazzbones, Station 56, The Central Tavern, and more.

2112 has garnered the respect of many Rush fans whom recognize 2112’s commitment to bringing a true and accurate recreation of the Rush concert listening experience to their live performances.

2112 also maintains an extremely popular and highly visible podcast in the iTunes music store that appears on the main result page when patrons search for “Rush” or “2112” in the iTunes store search window. 2112 has recorded many Rush songs as demo’s and makes them available free for download to anyone. This combined with a very heavily visited Myspace page takes 2112 from a local band to a band on the world scene. These two things in conjunction make 2112 one of the most visible Rush tribute bands in the world.

2009 has been a year of refreshment for 2112, as they take on more challenging musical undertakings and revamped their entire live performance. When possible 2112 uses rear projection video, fog machines, laser shows, sequencing, and more to capture the production value expected by fans at Rush concerts. 2112 is also ranging deeper into the Rush musical catalog, performing a set sure to delight even the most ardent of fans.

David Jaedyn Conley (Guitar, Vocals, Keyboards)

David Jaedyn Conley is a resident of both Australia and the United States and is currently completing his PhD in Music at RMIT University of Melbourne Australia. David also earned his Masters Degree in music from the University of Melbourne, and his Bachelors Degree in music at Seattle’s Cornish College of the Arts. David has been playing guitar for 32 years and credits Rush as being “one of my most profound musical influences”.

David composes music for film, TV and games, most recently composing for a variety of new Nintendo DS games by Disney Interactive. Primarily a film composer, David spends most of his time in the studio when away from the band. He also owns and operates “Mydnyte Productions” which both an agency producing original music by independent artists, and an independent record label specializing is music by Pacific Northwest artists.

Robert Gardunia (Bass, Keyboards, Backing Vocals)

Robert Gardunia is a musician, writer and artist. With over a decade experience in web and multimedia design, he done projects for organizations as diverse as Nascar to the United Nations. Robert has been playing bass for over 20 years, initially inspired by Rush, and in particular Geddy Lee, to learn the instrument. Before joining 2112, Robert played bass for several Northwest bands, including Abney Park and Deadly Nightshade Botanical Society.

Gary Guzman, (Drums and Percussion)

Gary Guzman is probably one of Pierce County’s most sought after drummers. Gary judges Guitar Center’s annual “Drum Off” and plays with various ensembles and groups around the Tacoma/Seattle area. Known for his ability to play complex time signatures and his technical ability as both a drummer and percussionist, Gary has played for everything including the Tacoma Youth Symphony, as well as the Nick Tesla band, a Tacoma mainstay for more than 20 years. Gary is certainly a world-class drummer and brings a level of distinction to “2112” that only Neil Peart himself could hope to provide.
