Military members living in the Pacific Northwest are typically known for their support of local sports teams, and that community support is being reciprocated from the local sports teams as well.

Whether the day brings rain, snow or sunshine, it is always a good time to watch a basketball game in Portland's MODA Center arena, especially when it is at a discounted price or when it is to pay tribute and honor a fellow servicemember.

"The Portland Trail Blazers would like to honor all the brave men and women who have previous military experience including all veterans, active-duty, reservists, and their friends and family with an exclusive offer for all remaining regular season home games," according to a Portland Trail Blazers & Rose Quarter Events statement.

The Portland Trail Blazers are looking for military members and their families to take advantage of their numerous ongoing military promotions.

A military couple can enjoy the upcoming showdown between the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors and hometown favorite Portland Trail Blazers Feb. 13, for less than $150.  Compare that with last season's Seattle Seahawks ticket prices, you will find that one ticket for a NFL game is typically more than $150.

Even if you're not a basketball fan, military members can take advantage of discounts for any Rose Quarter Family Show event taking place in the MODA Center such as Cirque Du Soleil, Stars on Ice, WWE Monday Night Raw, Sesame Street Live, Monster Jam and more.

The link for the discounted military ticket offer is rosequarter.com/military/ and the promo codes needed are:

  • "RQMILITARY" for any Rose Quarter Family Show
  • "MILITARY" for any Portland Trail Blazers game

Along with offering discounted tickets for every home game during their season, the Trail Blazers also honor veterans during every home game as part of their Hometown Hero Program and are looking for more veterans to honor.

"The Portland Trail Blazers and Leupold and Stevens Inc. are proud to recognize heroes in our community," according to the Trail Blazers website.  "Whether it's the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, first responders, or everyday heroes who put service before self, we're excited to honor a new hero during each regular season home game."

The Portland Trail Blazers' Hometown Hero Honorees receive in-game recognition, a gift from the Trail Blazers and Leupold and Stevens Inc., and a pair of complimentary game tickets.

Nominating a fellow veteran, friend or family member that served their country only takes a few moments with nominees notified throughout the 2018-19 regular season.

Every year, the Portland Trail Blazers also hold a Military Night around Veterans Day and the opportunities for military are aplenty during these games as well.

"Those who purchase tickets at the military rate will receive special access to sit up close during pregame warm-ups, along with retail and concession discounts during a night filled with special recognitions," according to their website.

Whether you are looking for a trip with friends to catch a basketball game at a discounted price, you want to take the entire family out for an experience together, or maybe you want to honor a deserving veteran, the Portland Trail Blazers have you covered with numerous military promotions.

"The Trail Blazers, along with the more than 600 Leupold and Stevens employees located in Beaverton, Oregon, are proud to recognize the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, first responders and everyday heroes during every home game through the Hometown Heroes program," according to the Trail Blazers Hometown Heroes website.
