With summer in full swing, many people are already thinking about how they will spend their 4th of July. It is the holiday that brings everyone together to celebrate the very freedoms that we enjoy each and every day. Whether you choose to stay at home to celebrate or travel elsewhere, there is something for everyone. The Naval Station in Everett will be hosting a grand 4th of July Celebration at Jim Creek Recreation Area in Arlington. The event will take place Saturday, July 4. The celebration is open to all Department of Defense members, dependents and retirees with access.

During the daylong celebration, guests are invited to enjoy a wide range of family friendly activities. Guests can enjoy a refreshing ice cream social, hay wagon rides through the picturesque area and will be able to kick back and relax indoors watching a movie (the selected movie will be rated PG). There will also be access to a climbing tower and rock wall for guests to use to test out their climbing skills. If you're interested in something a little more artistic, kid-friendly crafts will be available to create. Although it is a 4th of July celebration, there will not be a fireworks display provided due to regulations set forth by Jim Creek. The 4th of July Celebration, hosted by the Naval Station in Everett, are only some of the fun filled activities found at Jim Creek.

Jim Creek Recreation Area is also home to several other outdoor recreational activities - including fishing, hiking, as well as camping. If you're looking to travel to Jim Creek for the holiday weekend, it is RV friendly and also offers great camping tent sites. Jim Creek features a wide variety of types of cabins for rent - including deluxe cabins, dens and a lodge. If you are feeling adventurous, there are also hike-in campsites available in the area. While the Twin Lakes area is currently closed due to a road washout, there are still plenty of things to see and do at Jim Creek. It is host to Alpine Tower, a wall climbing activity center that is family friendly. Alpine Tower is open to climb for an hourly rate as well as group rates. The facility is also available for birthday parties or other private functions.

Guests who visit Jim Creek Recreation Area are invited to take advantage of the hiking and biking trails in the area to explore the great outdoors. The hiking trails are family friendly and would welcome families to come enjoy nature. Children will enjoy playing on the many different playgrounds found at Jim Creek. Children of all ages can enjoy a game of basketball, sand volleyball, or play games in the social center. Jim Creek also offers a nine-hole disc golf course. If you think that you have come unprepared or simply do not own sports equipment, don't fret. Jim Creek offers sports equipment for rent as well as movies and other games. Guests are even able to rent bicycles, tents, sleeping bags, and even pots and pans to help make their experience more convenient and enjoyable.
