One of my favorite things to do is to walk the different events and festivals and partake in all the different tasty offerings. Each event always has a little different feel and taste appeal to it, and Art on the Ave this Sunday on Tacoma's 6th Ave is no different. Sixth Ave is already buzzing with great restaurants and bars on a daily basis; so what are they doing to join in the festivities and get you out of the heat and inside for food and drinks?

Sunday will be a special treat for sure, as many of the businesses, normally closed on Sundays, will be open to accommodate the expected crowds of thirsty, hungry South Sounders.

Asado Cucina Argentina, known for its South American flavors and smoke will be serving up both steak and chicken chimichurri skewers to accompany the many refreshing adult drinks available in the full bar. 2810 6th Ave., 253.272.7770

Cork! A Wine Bar will be open for business beginning at 11 a.m. to the end of the festival and running happy hour pricing on tapas, wine and more for the entire day. 606 N. State St., 253.212.5593

The Crown Bar will once again be offering a perfectly seasoned shrimp Po Boy to complement a handful of drink specials just for the day as well as local fresh fruit infused lemonade for all ages. 2705 6th Ave., 253.272.4177

Dirty Oscars Annex has partnered with Daves Meats and Produce to provide the best ribs, smoked turkey legs and fresh roasted corn you're likely to find on the Ave.  Additionally, DOA will be slopping up the rum buckets it has become famous for over the years. 2309 6th Ave., 253.572.0588

The Gateway to India already has an advantage on 6th as the only Indian Cuisine at the event, and it will further that by grilling chicken and lamb sausage kabobs to pair with both regular and garlic naan.  There are also rumors of samosas being available as well! 2603 6th Ave., 253.552.5022

O'Malley's Irish Pub is alive every year with live bands on the Steele Street side, and this year will follow suit with three bands scheduled for the day.  If the music isn't enough to keep you at O'Malley's for a spell, then maybe the bacon-wrapped hot links, chicken wraps or fry basket will be. If after a long day on the Ave, you don't have the patience for the mass exodus, then O'Malley's after party begins at 6 p.m. 2403 6th Ave., 253.627.9403

The Primo Grill normally not open on Sundays will open its doors at 11 a.m. with full menu offerings as well as fresh, local, fruit and lemonade to quench your needs in the hot sun. 2701 6th Ave., 253.383.7000

The Table, brand new to 6th Ave, will be featuring local artists inside, as well as selling espresso, beer and wine while offering fresh samples of its homage to PNW cuisine. 2715 6th Ave., 253.327.1862

Make your way to 6th Ave this Sunday, July 12th, enjoy a day of festivities and local culture, and when you get hungry or thirsty, then just pop into one of the many options open on the Ave.  And who knows ... with so many great places, you may just find your new favorite summer spot to eat.
