December has got to be the craziest month of the year! We've barely recouped from having to tolerate the family over a Thanksgiving feast before we are thrust into the holiday grind. Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, super sales, Pinterest crafts and mad dashes through the mall. It's no wonder we start the new year with high hopes and resolutions for self care and better life choices. Between the two, the madness and the order, you have the ultimate arbitrary marker -- New Year's Eve. The eve of the new year is for self indulgence and shenanigans. It means you've survived another holiday season. Treat yourself, you've earned it. We did some sleuthing to find a few NYE festivities to ring in the new year.

If you're looking for a family pre-funk, the Markee has got you covered with their Noon Year's Eve Family Celebration. On Dec. 31, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., you can bring the kiddies for family-friendly fun. There will be live music to shake your booties to. Hands-on activities and grub. At noon, celebrate the afternoon with a balloon drop and a champagne toast (there's sparkling cider for the tiny humans), cookie decorating and more. Tickets are required. 5275 Olympic Dr. NW, Gig Harbor

Dillinger's in Olympia is hosting a revival-themed gathering. Live music will be provided by Straw Hat Revival and the Oly Mountain Boys. Aside from the entertainment, your $100 ticket scores you a delectable three-course dinner and a champagne toast at the strike of midnight. Dress code is encouraged and is all white to bring home the vibe of renewal. This pretty much counts out my attendance because I'm the lady who always has food on her shirt. If you miss the opportunity to snag tickets for dinner, $25 gains you entry into the beautiful space for cocktails, music and the midnight toast. 406 Washington St. SE, Olympia, 360.515.0650

Chelsea Farms Oyster Bar also rings in the new year with a splendid food and beverage pairing opportunity. There will be oysters and caviar, a champagne toast and a four-course meal. Tickets are not required but a reservation is recommended. The menu will be announced soon but dinner will cost you a cool $75, with an optional $35 upcharge for a wine pairing. Ante up to the rail for an a'la carte menu if the coursed meal experience isn't for you. Call to get a reservation. 222 Capitol Way N., Olympia, 360.915.7784

Mixing things up a bit is The Swiss and Steel Creek. They skip the bubbs and go straight to the hard stuff with a Fireball Whiskey Toast to ring in 2019. Steel Creek gets sassy with music provided by a DJ and not one but two dance floors. While The Swiss kicks it up a notch with performances by DJ Broam, Down North and the Gritty City Sirens. Get your cinnamon-y whiskey on and find your tickets now.
