WINE CHALLENGE

Morso Wine Bar (9014 Peacock Hill Ave. N., Gig Harbor) has concocted a challenge. A favorite sort of challenge for what can seem only targeted toward the Weekly Volcano - a drinking challenge. From now until Valentine's Day visit Morso and indulge in 16 Enomatic red wine selections in house. Completing this challenge will result in two things: Purple teeth and a nifty Morso Polo Shirt. To insure moderation and your safety, there is a three-glass max per visit.

WINE SALE

It's time for one of Wine Bank and Beer Vaults' twice-yearly BIG wine sales. Save a whopping 20-40 percent on a monstrous selection of vino - some beers too - through Jan. 12. If you attend one of their Saturday wine and beer tastings, held from 2-4 p.m., you'll have the divine opportunity to sample before you purchase. Get in on the party at 7017 27th St. W. in University Place.

THE ENVELOP PLEASE...

Oh, who doesn't love secrets? From now until Feb. 14 Brix 25 (7707 Pioneer Way, Gig Harbor) is having a secret envelope giveaway. Every time you dine in the fine-dining restaurant, you will receive an envelope. Don't tear it open! Upon your return visit between Feb. 15-April 15, the restaurant staff will tear open the envelop at the end of you meal to discover your discount. Prizes vary from $15 gift cards to $500 in value.

WINTER WARMERS

Wednesday Winter Warmers at Toscanos Café and Wine Bar (437 29th St. SE, Puyallup) will introduce you to three exquisite hot cocktails in the month of January. Adult Cocoa combines your favorite kiddie winter drink with Fireball cinnamon whiskey. The Hazelnut Sleeping Pill takes the comforting warmed milk your granny used to make you and adds Franjelico. And the Italian Irish Coffee delights with Irish whiskey and Tuaca in your cup of joe. Perfect nightcap, dessert drink or escape from the blustery cold outside.

GREEK TO ENGINE HOUSE

Engine House No. 9 (611 North Pine Street, Tacoma) is going Greek. For the month of January E-9's specials will reflect their X Group Greek family ownership with Greek dishes. Expect such dishes as Pano's Pasta, My Big Fat Greek Pizza and St. Nick's Gyro. We imagine the tenders of bar can pair brews and booze with the Greek flaired fare.
