SATURDAY DRINKS

Festival season may officially have come to a close but drinking season is still on. Saturday, Oct. 4 offers you many a reason to indulge in libations such as Tacoma's Yachtoberfest from noon to 5 p.m., a craft beer adventure along Foss Waterway's esplanade while sipping on numerous local breweries Oktoberfest-style brews. And you can journey through downtown Puyallup for their Art and Wine Walk enjoying vino varietals, shopping, art and live entertainment from 2 to 6 p.m.

APPLE SQUEEZE

It's cider season! From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday Oct. 5, press apples the old fashioned way or purchase a jug of cider freshly squeezed, enjoy artisan vendors and apple themed culinary delights like pie, cider floats, corn, apple fritters and more. Live entertainment, pony rides and hand on opportunities means fun for the whole family at the Steilacoom Apple Squeeze. Festivities occur at the center of historic downtown Steilacoom.

STILLSUIT COCKTAILS

Second annual toast to author Frank Herbert hosted by Hilltop Kitchen (913 Martin Luther King Junior Way, Tacoma) occurs from 7-10 p.m. Oct. 8. For lovers of the written word, sipping on Dune-themed boozy concoctions is reason enough to crawl from behind their pages or maybe you just REALLY like the movie. For those who don't know, Frank Herbert was a Tacoma native and Dune is said to be inspired by the Tacoman environment. Discuss this and more over Duncan Idahos, sip on a Bene Gesserit or indulge in a Golden Path.
