Announcer: They call it a bar and grill, but by all indications, think of the Log Cabin in Lacey as a tavern with really good food.  They won't get a Michelin Star or anything, but if you like fried sandwiches, sandwiches and alcohol, a stop here (without the kids - they aren't allowed) is worth it - breakfast, lunch or dinner).

Jason: I've driven by the Log Cabin for years, but finally stepped inside.  The bar and grill name made me think it would be more restaurant-like than bar, but really it's your standard tavern with pool tables, pull tabs, darts and a few tables all in a big open space with a big TV screen at the back.

Jake: They have most of the expected hole-in-the-wall fried bar appetizers here like gizzards, fried mushrooms and chicken wings.  The wings are offered in either buffalo or honey BBQ and come in a hefty one-pound serving.  The wings were both flavorful and juicy with your choice of dipping sauces.  I prefer a crispy, fried crunch when I bite into a wing, but you won't find that here; so, if you want that crunch, grab the gizzards.

Jason: The turkey and bacon sandwich was nicely fried on sourdough with melted Swiss - rich, fatty and delicious.

Jake:  There were several burgers available, including an option to get one with a half-pound patty.  If you can't find one to your liking, the staff seemed more than eager to dress it up to your preferences.  I had my favorite, the mushroom Swiss burger, and testing my server's generosity, I asked if bacon could be added, and as promised ... bacon.  Either way, this was a great burger - juicy, and piled with all the accessories.

Jason: The service was spot on.  One woman was controlling the bar and the tables, but she was quick.  The kitchen also turns out the food with light speed.  I was in and out for lunch in under 20 minutes.

Jake:  If you're looking for something lighter, don't worry, there are plenty of sandwiches and salads to choose from as well. And their willingness to serve the customer goes beyond adding bacon to a burger; a customer at the next table requested a salad not on the menu, and it was served without question.  Of course, the dish that puts the Log Cabin on the map is the 16 oz. rib eye for under $16.  It is served old school with a side salad and a baked potato wrapped in foil with butter and sour cream.  The steak was cooked to my order with perfection, and seasoned just right.  I quickly learned why this is a local favorite; it will rival any great steakhouse steak.

Jason: The Log Cabin is a diamond in the rough.
