ANNOUNCER: With Jackie a bit under the weather, Dutch is left to a table for one in Gig Harbor. Just before you hit the Purdy bridge, there are a collection of places to grab a bite, from a quick-stop grocery store, to pizza, a few local bars, or the new Thai place where Dutch finds his table this week.

DUTCH: Easy Thai Easy Go is a bit on the outskirts of where most of us would consider Gig Harbor, but don't let an extra few minutes prevent you from making this a regular spot.

I was cheerfully welcomed by several staff members as I entered the restaurant, which is narrow, but open at the same time to where I didn't feel crowded by other patrons. Additionally, with nearly 50 ordering options, I didn't feel limited to just a few choices as is common with many small spots.

I have rarely seen a spring roll that I was willing to turn down, and the deep-fried spring rolls here are a big reason why. Five spring rolls are filled with cabbage, carrots and glass noodles before being fried hot and crispy. There is plenty of flavor offered in the simplicity of the dish, and the side of sweet and sour Thai sauce is a nice finish for dipping.

I also ordered a small bowl of the egg noodles with wonton soup. This is a clear mild broth with wontons that have been stuffed with ground chicken, plenty of egg noodles, cabbage, green onions, cilantro and BBQ pork. If your taste preference is for a milder dish, then this is the dish for you. The mild soup broth and noodles allow for the veggies to offer a fresh taste that combines well with the proteins of the wonton and pork.

As much as I enjoyed the freshness of the soup, I came for some chicken Pad Thai with a little kick, and again, I was not disappointed. The plate was large enough to feed two, loaded with rice noodles, crispy bean sprouts, thin sliced chicken, peanuts, all stir fried in a spicy Pad Thai sauce. It is also garnished with fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, which I found myself adding to each bite for even more crunch. I found a three to be plenty of spice for my taste -- any less wouldn't have been enough, and I'm not sure I was adventurous enough to go any spicier.

Lastly, I ignored the soda collection and ordered a Thai Iced Tea. This is a layered tea with a foundation of Thai black tea and a topping of sweet, heavy cream. The tea is strong in flavor like most Asian teas, but with the sweet cream. I didn't find the need for any additional sweetener. Finally, as a pairing for a spicy dish, the cream is just what my palate needed.
